Creating a temporary account for transfer student-athletes

Updated over 3 weeks ago

To reduce complexity and effort for the student-athlete, we recommend that your institution create an institution email address for any incoming transfers that have signed with your institution. A temporary account should only be created if and only if all of the following statements are true:

  1. The student-athlete is an incoming transfer from a four-year college to your institution

  2. The student-athlete has deals they are required to report

    1. Click here to learn more about deal reporting requirements for transfers

  3. An institution email (.edu) at your institution cannot be created for the student-athlete at this time

To provision a temporary account, you can visit the “Temporary Accounts” tab on your student-athlete access requests page. You will need the following information about the student-athlete to create their temporary account:

  • First and last name

  • NCAA Eligibility ID

  • Sport

  • Active non-institution email address

By creating their temporary account, you understand that your institution is responsible for inquiring with this student-athlete about any deals at their previous institution that your institution may need to know about. No deal history or account information will transfer from their previous institution account to their new institution account.

Once you have created the temporary account, the student-athlete will receive an email to the personal email address you entered for their account. From here, they can begin receiving links to log in to NIL Go from their personal email address, without filling out a registration form and submitting an approval request. This account will function the same as a normal NIL Go account; the student-athlete can enter/manage their deals and invite a representative.
