A Deal Facilitator is an entity that helps coordinate a deal between the student-athlete and Deal Sponsor and actually makes payment(s) to the student-athlete, their LLC, or their representative on behalf of that same Deal Sponsor. Some examples of a Deal Facilitator include marketing agencies, institution multimedia rights holders (e.g., [Name/Mascot] Sports Properties), collectives operating as agencies, and online NIL marketplaces.
While all deals reported in NIL Go must have a Sponsor, not all deals will have a Facilitator, and submitters can skip this step if they were paid directly by their Deal Sponsor. Student-athletes should not enter the information of their agent or representative as the Deal Facilitator. Click here for more information on how to enter a deal that involves a Facilitator.
If an entity merely coordinates a deal but does so without directly paying the student-athlete, their LLC, or their representative in connection with the deal is not a Deal Facilitator and does not need to be identified by a student-athlete when reporting a deal.
If an entity is the originating source of any compensation to the student-athlete and/or if it ultimately benefits from use of the student-athlete's NIL, then the entity is the Deal Sponsor, not the Deal Facilitator. Learn more about Deal Sponsors here.
